Major Change #1: The Pokemon League #1

How many teenagers want to go on a journey thinking that they're the greatest pokemon trainer to ever live, in real life? Now imagine a world where pokemon actually exist, and The Pokemon League is a more popular sport than soccer is in the real world. Teens and adults would be flooding through designated walking routes like refugees seeking the promise land. What are the odds of every gym leader accepting their challenge as the trainer walked into their gym? It's about null. The odds of the elite four accepting a trainer's challenge because he just walked in their front door is negative null. I can't make a good plot operate on exactly what was given to me by the games, which is why they need major changes.

I've relocated with a few new types of characters to fill in the gap of going from city to city. Park rangers, like the rangers of Hoenn, are assigned the job of making sure things in the "refugee camps" go smoothly. They stop violence, enforce litter laws, and stop irrational behavior in general. A problem with this type may have come to mind, or maybe you just compared them to Canadian police. I expected to have to think about this problem for much longer than I did, but an idea quickly came to mind; the park rangers have the ability to suspend 'pokemon licenses' for absolutely no reason at all, making them a very dangerous opponent.

Because police can't actually use a gun (shout out to Britain!), the strongest pokemon trainers become the faces of justice. That means the gym leaders, the elite four, the champion, and the secret police (remember Looker?) are really the only method of stopping evil that there are, which means most of the time, they aren't actually in the gym, except for the time when their job requires it. That time period is called the "Something Season (Still working on it)," and during that period, trainers with big dreams flood throughout the world to find fame. How do gym leaders take on all the challenges? They don't.
As most of you know, the gyms are littered with obnoxious trainers that challenge you before the gym leader is approachable. Those people are the gym leaders' selected apprentices who are itching to take you on and impress their sensei. In order to challenge the gym leader, a trainer must defeat ALL of the apprentices. I'm still sorting out much of the details here, but that should clear things up for you.

The final battle against the elite four is the most broadcasted event in all of the world, notably Unova's, but that detail comes later. One trainer battles the elite four each year, and if that trainer manages to defeat them, he or she has the honor of taking on the champion. There has of course been a history of champions being complete juggernauts, and most retire before being defeated.
If only one trainer gets to challenge the indigo plateau every year, then how is he or she selected? Every trainer to have obtained all eight gym badges, which in reality is only a couple hundred, is put into a massive single elimination bracket. This is much too large to be broadcasted, but at 64 trainers remaining betting and sponsoring starts to happen. At 32 trainers remaining, major broadcasting of the tournament beings. At 16 fans start to get involved; at 8 trainers remaining and below the bulk of the climax is going to occur.

Tell your friends... And your enemies; get them involved too!
I still need a title! Leave your ideas in the comments
